Introducing....LADY NINJA!!!!

Konichiwa fellow Word Up Ninja lovers! I’m Lady Ninja (like Lady Gaga, but less meat dresses and more pink nunchuks). I am the newest member of the Word Up Ninja team!

Okay let’s get real....you come to this site to read posts that make you say, “Yeah! That’s exactly what I think!” or “Whaaaat the heck is the Love Ninja on about!?!” but the main point is you come to hear opinions and compare them to your opinions!

The great news is (drum roll please...) now you have another Ninja’s perspective to read! (cue bells, whistles and a quick Ninja booty shake)

So to start it off I’ll share with you a little quote that I live by:

“Love is like a friendship caught on fire. In the beginning a flame, very pretty, often hot and fierce, but still only light and flickering. As love grows older, our hearts mature and our love becomes as coals, deep-burning and unquenchable” –Bruce Lee

What does this mean? Well I see it as a video of what love is! We often seek the flame of love—hot, pretty and fierce—but we forget that it is short lived and superficial! It is the coals that represent a true quality relationship (whether that’s romantic or just friendship!)

Here’s my question to you:

DO YOU PREFER A “FLICKERING FLAME” TO “UNQUENCHABLE COALS”?

When you meet someone do you look only for a fire and when it passes also let the opportunity for a strong relationship pass as well? Or do you recognize that the fire is what draws you in and the deep-burning coals are truly the gift you long for!!

Heavy stuff for a first intro post hey?!! Haha!

in a society of instant gratification and "do it yourself self help books" and advice columns and shows; what is missed, is that everyone experiences love differently but like you quoted, the true test is in the longevity of it... not so much in how quickly it ignites. interestingly refreshing to hear a statement of love from a martial artist.

Coming up on 28 years of marriage, it's those coals that keep it going but the flare ups keep it interesting!

Yes! Love, lust, romance can all ignite quickly...that person you meet that stays on your mind for whatever reason, the glance that is met and makes your face feel hot, that first meeting that makes you long for the next!

But the true beauty of love (friend-love, romantic-love, family-love) is in the struggles, victories, efforts and passion put into the long term.

When you know someone can be there for you when times are great as well as when times are frustrating, it's encouraging, trust building and fulfilling!

Burn on coals of love...burn on!

Lady Ninja out...

Much wisdom in this post! I read the quote about love and think of all those I love!

We should tell those people we love much, much more, and not just parents, spouses, but also friends and friends that are really family!
